For over 35 years, Ian has been helping a select group of professionals, entrepreneurs and high net worth families accomplish their financial well-being and life goals. He works closely with them as their Personal Financial Coach to create and implement a comprehensive ‘Financial Game Plan’ based on their personal situation and needs.

Ian graduated with his MBA as the Gold Medalist in Entrepreneurial Studies from York University in 1986. He also graduated top of his class from Brock University in 1981: he completed both his H.B. Admin and B.A. in Political Science in just three and one-half years. After gaining experience in both brand and bank management, Ian began his own financial planning firm in 1991 and joined forces with Allan Karpyshyn in 2006. Together they provide over 65 years of wealth management experience as Personal Financial Coaches for their clients.

Ian is one of only 300 Registered Financial Planners – which is the hallmark of financial planning in Canada – and was one of the first in Canada to be awarded the internationally recognized CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation. He also completed his Chartered Financial Planner designation with honours.

Ian is dedicated to the development of professionalism within the financial planning industry. In this pursuit, Ian is the Co-Founder and Past President, Past Chair and currently a Regent of the Institute for Advanced Financial Planners. He has served on the National Board of Directors and is past President and Director of the Alberta and Regional Boards of the former Canadian Association of Financial Planners. Finally, Ian has taught the Certified Financial Planner program through the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning at Mount Royal University.

Outside of work Ian loves to spend time in Calgary and Phoenix with his wife Kelley of 32 years. He also enjoys attending plays and golf events for his talented children Keirstyn and Scott. Ian loves to golf and ski and was a Founding member and Past President of the Calgary Crowchild Rotary Club and was a member and Past Chair of the Junior Golf Committee at the Country Hills Golf Club.
